No member of the parish community of St. Frances Cabrini will grieve alone.

The bereavement ministry is an outreach to young and old struggling with grief. It includes providing resources for support and assisting with the All Souls Liturgy on November 1.

Our Holy Name Society attends and prays the wake services for all men of the parish who have died.

Our Christian Mothers attend and pray the wake services for all women of the parish who have died.

Our Resurrection Choir leads the music at the funeral liturgy.

Individual grief counseling is available through Pam Roesch at 724-312-2796..

Volunteers are needed to call those who have recently lost loved ones, respond to the needs of parishioners, and to help implement the All Souls liturgy.

NOVEMBER 2 - ALL SOULS DAY

The Commemoration of All Souls comes the day after the universal Catholic celebration of All Saints. Each year these celebrations awaken in the people of God an intense atmosphere of prayer. It is both mournful and serene, an atmosphere in which the consoling certainty of our belief in the communion of saints softens the sadness that never totally goes away when our loved ones pass on.

Enfolded in this spiritual mystery, we find ourselves around the altar of the Lord, united with other members of our community who mourn. Our loved ones have reached the goal we long for. At their baptism, a community held them forth and proclaimed their name before God. They were united with Christ on that day. At the hour of death, they pronounced the last "Here I am", in union with that of Jesus, who died surrendering his spirit into the hands of the Father.

"When Christ, our life, will be manifested,
then you will be manifested with him in glory" (Col 3,4).

These words of St Paul invite us to look to the eternal life, into which our loved ones have completed the final move. In the light of the Paschal Mystery of Christ, their death is really the entrance into the fullness of life. In fact, as the Apostle says, the Christian is already "dead" through Baptism and his life is mysteriously "hidden with Christ in God" (Col 3,3).

In this light of faith, we feel even closer to our deceased brothers and sisters, parents and even children: death has apparently separated us but the power of Christ and of his Spirit unite us in a more profound way. Nourished with the Bread of life, we too, along with those who have gone before us, await with firm hope our full manifestation.

Please join us for our parish celebration of All Souls.
