THE WOODS WOULD BE SILENT IF NO BIRDS SANG THEIR SONG Our parish music ministry serves to inspire and uplift the voices of the entire community, that "filled with the spirit we might address one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and playing to the Lord in our hearts." (Eph 5:19-20) Brenda Kostial is the director of music at St. Frances Cabrini Church. She strives to provide the congregation with appropriate music to enhance the liturgy and hopes that the congregation will participate in the music ministry by doing their part to raise their voices in song to our God. Those with special musical gifts are encouraged to share their talents in helping to lead our music. This ministry is continually seeking new members. If you play an instrument or have a pleasant singing voice, please consider one of our many music-making opportunities.
Traditional Choir Our traditional choir is available to anyone high school age and older who can and loves to sing. Reading music is helpful, but not a requirement as long as you have a good ear and can learn quickly. This all-volunteer group is made up of people just like you who come together every week to share their love of our Church's rich musical and liturgical heritage. The fun that is shared while praising God is by far the greatest of these rewards! If you've ever considered being part of our parish music ministry, please call or stop and talk to Brenda and learn how you can get involved. Currently, there are openings in all sections of the traditional choir. We'd love to hear from you! We rehearse Thursdays from 7:30 to 9:30 and sing at the 10:00 Sunday Mass September through May, as well as for other special events. Childrens Choir Our childrens' choir is open to boys and girls from 3rd to 8th grade. We rehearse Thursdays from 5:30 to 6:45 and sing at the 12:00 Sunday Mass September through May and for other special events. Contemporary Choir Our contemporary choir is open to anyone high school age and older who is young at heart and enjoys a more upbeat musical liturgy. The members of this group share a strong dedication to creating beautiful music for worship, while exploring our Church's evolving repertoire of contemporary music. The group devotes many hours each month to enriching this ministry, while expanding their musical knowledge and having fun. In addition to singers, the group also uses a select combination of musical instruments at various times. If you've ever considered being part of our parish music ministry, we'd love to hear from you! Rehearsals and Mass schedules to be announced. Funeral Choir You are welcome to join our small group of singers to participate in funeral liturgies (usually 10 am with only one day notice). Instrumentalists If you play a musical instrument well and would like to share your talents, please contact the music director. |
