The Food and Gift Club is a fundraiser
to support the parish preschool and other church activities.
You buy $10 store certificate for $10 and spend $10.
The parish gets $.10 to $1.50 depending on the store.
The Food and Gift Club is designed to raise money for the parish preschool and other church activities. The church purchases gift certificates from various department stores, grocery stores, and restaurants at a discount price and resells these certificates at face value.
Gift certificates can be purchased at the Food and Gift Club table located in the vestibule to the left of the church entrance. Volunteers are needed at all Mass times. Certificates are also available in the rectory during normal office hours or in the preschool classes, when preschool is in session. Use them for your weekly shopping! Give them as gifts on birthday and holidays!
All parishioners are encouraged to use the food and gift certificates for their everyday shopping and special occasions.

What is a Food Certificate?
Answer
It is a certificate redeemable at the super market, department store, or restaurant. It works the same as cash.
Question
How do the church and preschool make a profit on the Certificates?
Answer
The Certificates are bought in bulk at a discount off the face value. The discounts range from 2% to 10%. If St. Frances Cabrini buys $20,000 worth of certificates at a 5% discount, we pay $19,000 and receive $1000 in profit once parishioners have bought all the certificates.

When can I purchase Certificates?
Answer
Certificates can be purchased before and after all weekend masses in the vestibule of the church for your convenience. Certificates will also be available at the preschool, CCD, and parish offices during normal business hours.

Do the Food Certificates have expiration dates?
Answer
Some certificates charge a processing fee after two years, however, if certificates are used within a reasonable amount of time this will not apply.

In what denominations can I purchase Food and Gift Certificate?
Answer
Certificates may be available in denominations of $5, $10, $20, $25, and $50 ($100 and $250 by special order) depending on the vendor.

Can I get change from Food and Gift Certificates?
Answer
Most certificates maintain the balance on the card until the card value is exhausted. Some vendors return cash if the balance remaining on the card is under $5. In all cases, the full face value of the card is yours to spend.

Is my participation in the St. Frances Cabrini Food and Gift Club tax deductible?
Answer
No, since the program costs you nothing, your purchases of Food and Gift Certificates are not tax deductible.
