Pastoral Care of the Sick and Homebound
Courage, God has not forgotten you. Christ suffers with you. And by offering up your sufferings, you can collaborate with him in the redemption of the world.
- Pope John Paul II Are you or a loved one sick or homebound? Our parish would like to systematically offer prayer, support, and opportunities for sacraments and for service. Because of new federal regulations, the parish is no longer automatically contacted when you or a loved one goes into the hospital. We are also limited by pastoral guidelines and your desire for privacy from sharing news of your illness, and providing the type of care and prayer that is our call. Please feel free to contact Rochelle Barness, our parish coordinator for the pastoral care of the sick and homebound. Rochelle can be the contact person between you and parish ministries that can most help. We have a wonderful Care and Concern Ministry that includes a prayer network, home services, transportation, visitation and respite care. We have extraordinary ministers of the Eucharist who will bring communion to your home on Sunday morning. Father Kleppner and Ellen Cavanaugh, our Pastoral Associate, make first Friday visits to parishioners who are homebound. Father is available to administer the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick to anyone facing a serious or chronic health problem or an approaching surgery. Some of our CCD students eagerly seek homebound parishioners with whom they can correspond. Please serve us by allowing us to serve you during this time of need.
Sterengthen my body and comfort my fears. Give me the patience to accept Your Holy Will, even though I do not understand Your plan for me. While I am here please hear my prayers for recovery and also the prayers of others who are in need of your care. With Your grace I am made whole with Your love I am complete for You are the power and the glory for ever and ever. Amen Maria Sundy |
